Giethoorn by private taxi
Giethoorn lies in the province of Overijssel, about 120 km north-east of Amsterdam. The drive takes around 1 h 30 min. By public transport the journey involves a train and a bus and usually takes considerably longer.
Your driver picks you up at your Amsterdam address and drops you near the village centre, where you can rent a boat, walk along the canals or have lunch by the water.
Return trip or waiting service
For a day trip you have two options. Book a return trip at the same time (10% discount on the ride) and agree a pickup time, or add the waiting service (€40 per hour) so the driver stays in Giethoorn and drives you back when you are ready.
Most visitors spend half a day in the village. Summer weekends are the busiest time; an early start helps.
